“I have been an avid supporter of Jeans for Genes since 2012 and it’s a cause that is very close to my heart. “I am supporting Jeans for Genes because having children of my own makes my heart go out to all the mums and dads out there who cope on a daily basis with a child who suffers from a genetic disorder. They deserve every ounce of support that you can give and that's why I'm supporting Jeans for Genes Day.”
“My kids have always done Jeans for Genes Day at school and funnily enough when Jeans for Genes got in touch with me, I’d just met a little boy called Josh who has Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. It’s a very rare form of Muscular Dystrophy and I’d never heard of it. Genes are mostly invisible to us until we’re affected by them and I think it’s important to talk about some of these issues and highlight the importance of a charity like Jeans for Genes in raising awareness of genetic disorders.
So to all the schools taking part in Jeans for Genes Day this year, my message is have fun, wear your jeans but also talk about genetics, things you’ve inherited genetically from your parents like your eye colour – it’s a great way of introducing children to science!”
“I’m always keen to support children’s charities, and I’m honoured to be supporting Jeans for Genes Day in its twenty-first year.
